Streamline warehouse flow with smart linear units

In warehouse and production flows, there are many opportunities to implement automation solutions. By automating sub-processes, you can create a better working environment and more efficient production. We will tell you more about how smart linear units can improve the workflow.

Warehouse automation in a changing world

Today's warehouses and workshops come in many different forms. As e-commerce and digitalization increase, higher demands are placed on short lead times and more efficient production. Automated processes can make it easier to meet customer expectations, while maintaining high quality and a good working environment. Warehouse automation is a broad area that encompasses many types of solutions. Different work processes and applications have different requirements - some are simple, and some are more advanced. Simple movements and adjustments can be automated using linear units.

Example of automated flow

Linear units can be found in a variety of applications. In the video below, we show an example of how a Linear Unit QME can operate with a vision camera in a simple automated workflow. This type of linear unit is a cost-effective solution as it is usually delivered ready for installation, thus saving both design and assembly time. It can be equipped with either a ball screw or lead screw depending on the precision requirements of the application. The linear unit adjusts its position based on incoming data from the vision camera, in this case information about the height of the blocks. Similar functionality can be found in e-commerce flows, for example, where postal packages are to be sorted by address label, weight or height. Other examples where these types of linear units can be used are pick and place applications or format changeovers in general.
